A Wingnut in Asheville

We took Wingnut to his very first concert Wednesday evening. Well, he went with us really. We saw The Arcade Fire play at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC. (Sara, you might like them. They even have a euphonium in the line-up! They don’t have a trombone, though.) Wing slept through the whole thing and seems to have survived the thing just fine. We plugged up his ears and the Missus slung him in the hippy sling.

I was ready for him to fuss, be awake, or even sleep through the concert. What surprised me most was everybody else’s reaction. I’ve never gotten more smiles in all my life. The Missus and I had long conversations with two separate folks. One was from Asheville while the other was an Air Force guy from Charlotte, NC.

I went to the bathroom before The Arcade Fire came on. While I’m standing in line a guy about 6 or 7 ahead of me sees me and Wing and lets us cut in front of him. Who would have thought having a baby would get you through the bathroom line quicker than without?

On a different note. The Missus has herself a photoblog called Camera Shy. Take a look at it. Now.

  1. Funny, I was just reading about Arcade Fire @ the Coachella Valley festival in California. Anything with low brass in the line up is a-ok in my book. Hope everyone is feeling better there–we’re battling ear infections & coughs here, too.
