Time Flies
Maybe you’re wondering about that goofy photo up in the header. It was taken by the Missus last Spring at the Chimney Top picnic grounds in the Smoky Mountains. We were walking and came up on the bathrooms. Out in front of the buildings were several toilets gathered as if in a casual meeting. It wasn’t the usual sighting you’d expect to find in the Smokies.
That was the second time we’d stopped for a picnic at that particular locality. Tonight the Missus found several photos of us taken at that same picnic area when Spotz was maybe 16 months old. He was little anyway. Well, Spotz was a rotund baby, so he wasn’t little.
So much time has passed since the big kids were as young as our little ones are now. I don’t remember so much about Spotz’ infant days. The Missus says we were still in shock at being parents. I agree. I hope I know better than to look the other way while Lugnut and Leroy are still so small, or to even do so with the big kids. This time just flies by.
A week ago, the Missus and I were just getting settled into our birthing room. (What a clunky name for a room.) The Missus was getting ready for some serious labor. I was keeping a couple of hand towels wet and cool for her forehead. I was expert at that, dude.

I figured it was toilet art.
Imagine hauling those suckers up there. THAT’S dedication to one’s art!
i have always kind-of secretly liked the toilet planters rednecks have in their yards. i thought if i have a nice yard someday i would make a real nice, classy one where people would say “yeah it’s a toilet, but it’s kind-of pretty.” too bad i have a redneck yard – a toilet would just be the cherry on top.
Have to take my little one up there next we visit the in-laws (they live in Gatlinburg). He will, of course, want to pee outside; apparently that is really cool if you are a 3 yr old boy.
It’s a great picnic spot. There’s easy, convenient parking and grills. The Little Pigeon is nearby with lots of big rocks to climb.
I still take great joy in peeing outside.
My Redneck Yard is a great title for a blog.
